The Famous Tree Company

HMS VictoryThe HMS Victory Oak Collection has been created by artist craftsman David Burton.

After leaving a career in the Royal Navy, he first became a painter before turning his hand to decorative table making. His very successful Leather Top Table range has sold worldwide. His experience in working with many different materials and media has helped tremendously in the production of pieces for The HMS Victory Collection - a superb compilation of beautiful items made from the materials recovered from the most famous ship of all time.

David and his partner, artist Caroline Richmond aim to achieve an ever growing collection of items of interest and value to collectors at all levels. The limited number of each product, together with its material provenance and craftsmanship, will ensure the value to the collector, while documented provenance and a contribution to the charitable funds supporting the restoration of Victory provides the integrity surrounding the entire project.Historic Timbers from HMS Victory

David is always interested in discussing individual commissions for gifts, corporations, trophies and presentations, where pieces can be inscribed with personal and commemorative messages. To date he has made bases for yacht club cups and sailing trophies, special pieces for retirement, official ‘end of term’ presentations and corporate gifts. Currently he is working in collaboration with Nauticalia, Remember Nelson Ltd, Dartington Crystal and Royal Worcester producing oak bases for Trafalgar bicentennial ware, all of which can be seen at www.remembernelson.com.

David is also available for Nelson and Victory talks and after dinner speaking.

The Famous Tree Company as the name implies also works with historic trees, and reclaimed materials, the latest being rescued materials from the Cutty Sark which is undergoing restoration at present and the damaged hull from Gypsy Moth—Sir Frances Chichester’s world record breaking boat. Other projects include Spanish galleons, old timber from customer’s houses along with felled trees from gardens and Stately homes, David is currently working with oak from the grounds of Burghley House in Lincolnshire producing gifts for their gallery and shop.

Other work with Victory Oak include pieces for Nauticalia, Royal Worcester, Dartington Crystal, The Royal Yacht Club and Remember Nelson.com. Along with Items from the Victory Collectionseveral names from the film world and politics listed amongst his customers.

David is always happy to discuss corporate and personal commissions with Victory Oak and any other materials from favourite trees for gifts and mementos.
